www.weather.gov

Conditions around the Rochester area and the Finger Lakes have been improving during the day on Wednesday, with some of the earlier weather advisories and warnings canceled. But there are now some new advisories heading into the end of the week.

There were also a number of crashes and fender benders around the region during the morning commute on Wednesday. Overnight, from Tuesday into Wednesday, parts of area internstates including 490 were closed until early Wednesday morning due to slick roads.

There is still a Winter Storm Watch  for counties including Seneca, Steuben and Yates from Thursday afternoon into Friday morning.

And now, there are new Winter Weather Advisories for several local counties including Monroe from Thursday afternoon into Friday morning.

News 8 meteorologist Josh Nichols says a steady snow will develop south of the Thruway by Thursday evening, and then moving north. He says that will leave several inches accumulating overnight into Friday through parts of the Finger Lakes.

Nichols says Friday will see some snow and sleet mixed, ending as a bit of light rain.
