A San Francisco based software development company is opening an office in downtown Rochester and they are expected to create at least 30 new full-time jobs at that site over the next five years.
The firm is called EmployeeChannel and they will be located inside the RIT Center for Urban Entrepreneurshipon Franklin Street.
Founded three years ago, EmployeeChannel has developed an application that allows companies to communicate more effectively with their employees through cloud, mobile and artificial intelligence technologies.
The company’s senior vice president, Mark Oney, is a 1981 RIT graduate. Empire State Development is providing up to $500,000 through the Excelsior Jobs Program in exchange for job creation commitments. Monroe County and Greater Rochester Enterprise also provided incentives and other assistance.
EmployeeChannel had considered some locations in other states to grow its business, but officials say they picked Rochester partly because of its proximity to a strong pool of talent in computer science, engineering and related fields.
The total project cost is $2.4 million.
