WXXI-TV productions and presentations earn 5 NY Emmy award nominations

National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences

WXXI-TV has received New York Emmy® Award nominations for three of its productions, and two nominations for productions WXXI served as the presenting station in the PBS system.

WXXI’s Emmy nominated productions include:

I Can Be What?!, a digital series that gives kids a sneak peek into the world of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) careers, was nominated in the Children/Youth (12 and under) – Short Form Content category. The series is hosted by professor, science communicator, inventor, and electrical engineer Jennifer Indovina. Production team included: Erin McCormack, Executive Producer; Todd McCammon, Cara Rager, Karen Heller, Katie Epner and Lisa Famiglietti, Producers.

Arts InFocus: Move to Include Special, a half-hour episode that looks back on some of Arts InFocus’ best stories, featuring the work of artists with disabilities was nominated in the Arts/Entertainment – Long Form Content category. The special is part of Move to Include, a partnership between WXXI and the Golisano Foundation designed to promote inclusion for people with intellectual, physical, and developmental disabilities. Journeys Through The Finger Lakes, a documentary co-produced by WXXI and Finger Lakes Tourism Alliance explores a region deeply rooted in history, agriculture, social change, and sustainability, was nominated in the Historical/Cultural – Long Form Content category. Production team included: Erin McCormack, Executive Producer; Todd McCammon and Tom Dooley, Associate Producers; Katie Epner and Jason Milton, Producers; and Chris Golding and Darian Lizotte, Editors.

Emmy nominated productions for which WXXI served as the presenting station include:

Opioids From Inside: First Responders, a documentary that follows the lives of first responders who are fighting the opioid epidemic every day, was nominated in the
Editor – Long Form Content category. Production team included: Dave Marshall of Blue Sky Project, Editor.

NOW THIS: Nicholas H. Ruth, a short film that offers a look inside the work of artist Nicholas Ruth, was nominated in the Arts/Entertainment – Short Form Content category. Production team included: Tom Dooley, Producer; and Alex Freeman, Cinematography, Editing, and Music.
