Wegmans is going to reopen its Amore Italian restaurant at the East Avenue store.

It’s been closed  since March 2020, but the supermarket company says it plans to reopen Amore in December. There was not a specific date given for the reopening.

“We are very excited to reintroduce Amore to our guests,” says Wegmans Restaurant Operations Manager Mauricio Valdivia. “We spent the last year and a half experimenting with new recipes and reinventing the menu to give our customers a new taste of Amore.”

The restaurant is now hiring for more than 20 positions, with training slated to start in late October. The jobs including both part-time and full-time positions, including line cooks, servers, bartenders, and host/hostesses.

Wegmans says the new menu will feature a variety of new dishes, along with Amore staples, as the restaurant team continues a commitment to source local, organic ingredients from nearby family farms, and combine them with specialty ingredients imported from Italy.

In terms of reopening while the COVID-19 pandemic has seen increasing cases locally and nationwide, a statement from Wegmans said that,  "Since the beginning of the pandemic, we’ve followed the guidance of the CDC and health professionals with respect to our policies and processes as we navigate this continually evolving situation. As we plan for the reopening of Amore, we will do everything we can to ensure the health and safety of our customers and employees."
