State Police say that two off-duty troopers were injured in an accident involving the two motorcycles they were operating on Saturday in Wayne County.

Officials say at about 9:30 on Saturday morning, both motorcycles were traveling east on Route 104 near Redman Road in the Town of Sodus, when the lead motorcycle, operated by Sgt. Steven Mowers slowed down for an accident he was not involved in.

The second motorcycle, operated by Trooper Michael Burdett, was unable to slow down in time and struck Mower’s motorcycle from behind.

Burdett was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital by Mercy Flight with serious injuries. Mowers was taken to Strong with a leg injury.

Police say that Burdett is listed in serious but stable condition and Mowers has been treated and released.

The investigation is continuing.
