Pet Oxygen Masks Donated to Rural/Metro Medical Services

All Rural/Metro ambulances in the city are being equipped with new oxygen mask kits...for your pet.

This is the first time the Rochester/Buffalo Division of Project Breathe is donating kits for an entire fleet of ambulances. Public Information Officer Lashay Harris says saving pets from house fires is not at all uncommon. In fact, an estimated 100,000 pets die each year in a house fire.

"It's mostly due to smoke inhalation, so something so simple as giving that pet oxygen will help save their lives. This device that Project Breathe has designed will help us deliver it effectively," says Harris.

According to Harris, the masks are designed to fit most domestic animals like cats and dogs. Project Breathe is also providing free training on how to properly use the kits.
