The Monroe County District Attorney’s Office is investigating an accident that involved Greece Police Chief Drew Forsythe.
The accident happened around 1:30 a.m. Thursday, when, according to a police department spokesperson, Forsythe was trying to avoid a deer on I-390.
The DA’s office released this statement on Saturday:
“The Monroe County District Attorney’s Office was made aware that the Greece Police Chief was involved in a motor vehicle accident while driving his police issued vehicle. Nobody was injured in this accident that resulted in the vehicle being totaled. At this time, at the request of the Greece Police Department, the Monroe County District Attorney’s office investigators will begin an investigation into this matter.”
Town Supervisor Bill Reilich announced last December that Forsythe was being chosen to replace Chief Pat Phelan, who retired after several years in that post, and was named executive director of the New York State Association of Police Chiefs.
Prior to coming to Greece, Forsythe was the Monroe County undersheriff. He was with that department from 1991 until 2017.
