Henrietta town supervisor holds state of the town address

Henrietta Town Supervisor Stephen Schultz gave his state of the town address earlier Tuesday afternoon.

He says they have done a lot to improve government transparency through more dialogue at town meetings, getting rid of a two-minute time limit and more information on the town’s budget, as well as an East River Road corridor study

"Essentially how to mitigate the growth along the east river road corridor, how to put improvements along that road without the taxpayers having to pay all the costs to mitigate those issues."

He says they have been working on how to manage new growth in the town as well as a number of new major construction and renovation projects.

Schultz adds they’re encouraging developers to redevelop existing properties rather than pave over green space

"Both the mall and South Town Plaza they’re starting to see a lot of retail close down. We've been working with the mall pursuing a major tenant and so hopefully we'll have good news by February in that regards."

The new Henrietta town library is set to open this summer. The town is also working on replacing all streetlights with LED fixtures as well as other green initiatives.

Schultz and his wife are also developing a scholarship program for a Rush grad wanting to attend RIT.
