It seems as though the jury is carefully and thoughtfully considering the case against Thomas Johnson, the man accused of killing Rochester Police Officer Daryl Pierson. After more than eight total hours spread out over two days, they have still not reached a verdict.

Throughout the course of their deliberations, the jury has asked to review several key pieces of evidence, including video footage from the night of the shooting, testimony from a firearms expert, and eyewitness testimony. They've also asked to be re-read four of the six counts against Johnson, including lesser criminal possession of a weapon charges and the more serious aggravated murder and attempted aggravated murder charges.

Attorney for the Defense James Hinman says he's not speculating on which way the jury is leaning.

"We're at a stage where there's nothing more that we can do, and we've done what we can, and it's now in their hands."

District Attorney Sandra Doorley left quickly after court adjourned and we were not able to speak with her.

There's no way of knowing for sure just how long before the jury makes a decision in this case. Deliberations continue after 9:00am on May 8th. Before adjourning, the judge asked the jury to consider staying late if necessary.
