A Rochester art exhibit features works in several galleries and public places, about politics, culture, race, and social justice.
Stephon Senegal is an artist in Rochester.
"Here in America -- in the United States -- the black population has contributed largely to the country’s wealth, and yet that contribution is invisible."
That’s the subject of Senegal’s work, Necessary Invisibles. It’s part of an exhibition through the heart of downtown Rochester called Current Seen, about exploring our current moment and our changing city.
Bleu Cease is the Director, as well as the Executive Director of Rochester Contemporary Art Center.
"Current Seen links together brick and mortar spaces, public art installations, video projections in windows, and pop ups utilizing storefronts and un-rented spaces, turning them into galleries for six weeks."
Cease says he hopes this will help the community gain a better understanding of the visual art community in Rochester.
