There’s a winter storm warning in effect through 1 p.m. Friday in Monroe County.
Meteorologist Josh Nichols said an area of low pressure is tracking south of Rochester, and that's setting the stage for some heavy areas of lake-enhanced snow.
The National Weather Service said heavy snow is expected, with total accumulations of 6 to 12 inches across northern parts of Monroe, Wayne and Cayuga counties. Winds gusting as high as 30 mph will produce blowing and drifting snow.
The weather service said travel will be difficult and is expected to affect commutes on Thursday.
