Embattled Irondequoit town supervisor's re-election bid facing another setback

Irondequoit town Supervisor Andraé Evans has failed to qualify for the Democratic primary.

To secure the ballot line Evans needed to submit petitions signed by 500 eligible voters. The Board of Elections ruled Friday that he was 11 signatures short.

He still could challenge the finding in court, or petition to be on the ballot as an independent candidate. Evans did not respond to a message seeking comment.

It’s another blow for the incumbent, who is facing political and legal pressure to resign. This after an internal investigation supported claims that he sexually harassed and retaliated against a female staffer.

Democratic Town Board member Tom Perticone did qualify for the ballot as did Republican Anthony Costanza.
