Pittsford hosts its first-ever Pride Parade

Despite the sweltering heat, dozens of people marched and gathered in Pittsford on Sunday for the community’s first ever Pittsford Pride parade.

The event was sponsored by Pittsforward, an organization that promotes community conversations about race and diversity, and The SafeZone Initiative, a local organization that provides LGBTQ+ trainings and education.

Sunday afternoon’s parade began on Lincoln Avenue in Pittsford, starting with a flag-making activity at the Spiegel Community center, and then the half-mile route took marchers and spectators over to the gazebo on the Erie Canal.

Community leaders including State Sen.Samra Brouk, Monroe County Executive Adam Bello and Monroe County Legislator Howard Maffucci also spoke at the event.

Entertainers performed at the gazebo following the parade.
