University of Rochester graduate and 9/11 hero, Jeremy Glick entered the Rochester Jewish Sports Hall Fame on Sunday.

He was honored at a ceremony held at the Louis S. Wolk Jewish Community Center, where Glick’s parents Lloyd and Joan, accepted the award on his behalf. Glick died on 9/11 attempting to fight off terrorist on United Airlines flight 93.

Glick’s father spoke at the ceremony on behalf of the family.

“When we think about Jeremy, that idea about approaching life and trying to do good each day is something that we can live with, and we should aim for,” Lloyd Glick said.

Rochester Jewish Sports Hall of Fame co-chair, Sandy Kleinberg, says that they admire Glick’s heroism on 9/11, but they wanted to highlight his life by recognizing the Judo champion for his athletic achievements.

“Jeremy would have been in the hall of fame even if he hadn’t done what he did on 9/11. His credentials, his sports background and resume, he would have qualified anyway,” Kleinberg explained.

In 1992 Glick won national collegiate Judo Championship, he is the Rochester Jewish Sports Hall of 182nd inductee

The Rochester Jewish Hall of Fame has been recognizing outstanding achievement in athletics and sports in Rochester since 1962
