GREECE, N.Y. (AP) Dozens of people gathered in a parking lot in the Town of Greece on Saturday to remember and honor 10 people killed in a hotel fire 40 years ago Monday.
Video by the Democrat and Chronicle of Rochester shows people reading victims' names, tolling bells and unleashing balloons Saturday where a Holiday Inn once stood on West Ridge road.
Memorial organizer Laurie Kingsley-Henry said she wanted to show that the victims weren't forgotten.
The early morning blaze on Nov. 26, 1978, engulfed a hotel packed with over 200 guests and left a trail of unanswered questions.
There have been years of investigation and suspicions of arson. But the Democrat and Chronicle reported earlier this week that police and prosecutors are split on whether there's enough evidence to bring a case.
