A well-known local attorney and former Board Chair of WXXI has died.
Alfred “Skip” Hallenbeck was 87, and died on Wednesday. He is originally from Hudson, New York, and was a partner with Nixon Peabody later joining Sybron as General Counsel. He eventually retired from the firm of Ward Greenberg.
Hallenbeck served on a number of boards of Rochester area organizations, including WXXI, where he was Board Chair from 1973-1975. Since then he has served on the station’s Trustee Council.
"Skip Hallenbeck was a fan, a friend and a supporter of WXXI going back to our earliest days. He was “one of a kind,” and I will miss his smile, his sense of humor and his passion for public broadcasting,” said Norm Silverstein, President of WXXI Public Broadcasting.
Hallenbeck also worked with WXXI to help secure funding to continue rehabilitation of the Little Theatre.
Calling hours are Friday, 4-7pm at Anthony Funeral Chapel, 2305 Monroe Avenue. A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church at 601 Edgewood Avenue.
