New York Senator Charles Schumer and Congresswoman Louise Slaughter will help dedicate the East Rochester Post Office on Saturday to the memory of Daryl Pierson. Pierson was the Rochester Police Officer who was shot and killed in the line of duty in September 2014.
The two political representatives will be joined by members of Pierson's family as well as officials from the U.S. Postal Service.
The ceremony will include the unveiling of a plaque on the outside of the building with Pierson's name.
Located on West Commercial Street in East Rochester, the historic post office was built in 1936 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Pierson, who was an East Rochester native, was shot and killed during a foot chase. He was the first Rochester officer killed in the line of duty since 1959.
