Nazareth College says a new collaborative learning clinic will boost enrollment by 30 percent.
Nazareth President Daan Braveman announced the opening of the York Wellness and Rehabilitation Center.
The center brings together students in multiple disciplines, including physical, speech, and music therapy. Students treat patients for free under the supervision of professionals.
“If you need physical therapy and you’ve run out of your insurance coverage, you get referred to us and we provide the services right on campus,” says Braveman.
The college president remembers one patient who had suffered a stroke and lost the ability to walk and speak, “And when I saw him in the clinic, he was in our music therapy clinic, singing a song and playing the guitar.”
Braveman calls the center a national model for training across health professions.
