Rebuilding The RPD Image

Rochester Police Dept patch

Do you think Rochester Police need to develop better relationships with the community?

To gather feedback from Rochester residents, the Mayor and Police Chief plan five meetings, one in each of the planned new police patrol sections.

At each meeting, Mayor Lovely Warren and Chief Michael Ciminelli will talk about the new police sections, which go into effect next year. They'd also like to hear your suggestions to improve the relationship between officers and the community.

Following five years of research into police staffing, the city hopes the new patrol sections will help maintain the identities of neighborhoods and balance officer workloads.

The RPD will create a video in both English and Spanish answering frequently asked questions that will be posted to the city’s YouTube channel and aired on City 12 TV.

The meetings take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. beginning Tuesday at the Ryan Community Center on Webster Avenue. If you can't attend a meeting, you can offer comments on the city website.

Meeting Schedule:

• Tuesday, May 6: Thomas P. Ryan Community Center, 530 Webster Ave.

• Tuesday, May 13: Staybridge Suites, 1000 Genesee St.

• Thursday, May 15: RPD Patrol Division East Office, 630 North Clinton Ave.

• Tuesday, May 20: Public Safety Building auditorium, 185 Exchange Blvd.

• Thursday, May 22: Aquinas High School, 1127 Dewey Ave.
