Rochester is getting a designation from the White House designed to help the city train people for high-tech jobs. It's called TechHire and Mayor Lovely Warren found out about the program Monday when the announcement was made at the National League of Cities' Conference.
21 regions around the country are participating in this initiative, which will provide job training and help connect people with openings in the information technology field.
TechHire is a public-private initiative, and in Rochester the city will be working with MCC. The city and the college will form a partnership to develop accelerated programs and recruit non-traditional students who have the desire and the capability to succeed in the IT field.
