Wegmans leads a list of supermarkets being published this week by Consumer Reports magazine. The supermarkets were ranked on the categories of service, perishables, prices and cleanliness.
The other top supermarkets include Trader Joe's, Publix and Costco. The ratings are based on more than 27,000 responses to a survey conducted by Consumer Reports between January of 2012 and June of 2013.
Magazine officials say that most people responding to the survey were quite satisfied overall, but more than half had at least one complaint about their current store. Walmart, America's largest grocer, landed at the bottom of the ratings, with the biggest grips including not enough open checkouts, congested aisles, and lack of choice.
Consumer reports says despite those complaints, Walmart's 3300 supercenters were the destination of choice for 28 percent of those responding to the survey.
