Optimation Technologies, a local design, engineering and construction firm, has acquired a New Hampshire-based machining company.
Optimation's president Bill Pollock says the acquisition of Kingsbury Corporation is a strategic addition to his company's capabilities. Pollock says they plan to keep an engineering center in Keene, New Hampshire, while manufacturing would take place here.
Optimation designs and builds manufacturing lines that make everything from paper and glass to pharmaceuticals, food and medical devices.
Pollock calls this a "win-win" for the company, and the Rochester area, adding that in addition to acquiring fabrication machines from Kingsbury, Optimation also plans to diversify to web-based manufacturing and manufacture machines that assemble medical products and devices as well.
He says up to 150 jobs could be added in Rochester by 2014.
