Greece Central School District officials say that they have been notified that two Arcadia High School students have tested positive for COVID-19.
The district is working with the Monroe County Department of Health to contact trace and identify any close contacts. School officials say it is not necessary for families to take action unless they are personally notified by the health department.
Also, Greece officials say the health department told them that Greece Central's COVID-19 mitigation protocols are sound and there is no need to cancel school. In-person instruction will continue as scheduled on Monday.
In a notice on the district’s website, Greece school officials advise parents to continue to monitor their children each day for symptoms of COVID-19 which could include fever loss of taste or smell, headache, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, sore throat, fatigue, congestion, nausea or diarrhea.
If a child develops COVID-19 symptoms, parents are advised to contact the child’s healthcare provider as soon as possible. The district says parents should also contact the school nurse if a child tests positive for COVID-19 and refrain from sharing information about positive cases on social media.
And, in Wayne County, the Clyde-Savannah School District is closing its schools on Monday “out of an abundance of caution” after a non-teaching staff member tested positive for COVID-19.
The district is working with the Wayne County Department of Health, which has identified a bus where students may have been exposed. Through contact tracing protocols, the health department has contacted all families and provided further directions to quarantine.
