Sears Holdings has announced another 28 Kmart store closings and two of them are in the Rochester area. The latest list, out on Thursday, includes Kmart stores in Chili and Victor.
Earlier this year, it was announced that a Kmart in Webster would close.
The new closures announced Thursday are on top of 180 Sears and Kmart locations that have already been closed this year.
The company says the retail environment remains challenging, but it continues to focus on streamlining operations to improve performance.
The company says the latest closures will happen in mid-November. Employees impacted will get severance and have the opportunity to apply for open positions at other Kmart or Sears stores.
