Lilac Festival will be closed Monday due to the weather

Organizers of Rochester’s Lilac Festival say that they have made the difficult decision to close the festival on Monday due to the rains over the last several days as well as Monday’s forecast.

Festival Producer Jeff Springut has arranged for the evening headliners, The BB King Blues Band featuring Michael Lee of NBC’s The Voice and Danielle Ponder & the Tomorrow People, to perform at Anthology, located at 336 East Ave in Rochester. Doors at 6:30 pm, and the  show begins at 7:30 pm.

These performances will continue to be free, but space is limited. Those who have purchased Recipe 21 VIP Ultra Lounge or Party Deck tickets for Monday, May 13 performances can use their tickets for any of this week’s entertainment at the Rochester Lilac Festival or request a refund by contacting the producers at info@rochesterevents.com.

“Mother Nature has put a damper on our plans, but we’re grateful to have had five years without a rain closure,” said Springut. “A big thank you to Anthology for hosting our phenomenal talent of Danielle Ponder & the Tomorrow People and The BB King Blues Band featuring Michael Lee.”

The weather will be closely monitored throughout the day in the hopes that it clears enough to reopen the grounds Tuesday, May 14.

The Lilac Festival runs through next Sunday, May 19.
