First hour: Understanding the latest tensions between Russia and Ukraine
Second hour: Discussing barriers to information about child care assistance in New York State
Tensions between Russia and Ukraine are still at a high. Russia’s embassy in Washington says the country is not planning an attack, but the Biden administration says it is setting aside aid for Ukraine to help defend it in case an attack does happen. University of Rochester professor Randy Stone joins us to help us understand the latest developments and the context. Our guest:
- Randy Stone, director of the Skalny Center for Polish and Central European Studies at the University of Rochester
Then in our second hour, during Tuesday’s state budget address, Governor Kathy Hochul outlined funding for child care. Some local representatives say it’s not enough. Meanwhile, the Children’s Agenda recently released a report about how information related to child care assistance is provided locally, and it identifies barriers and gaps. We discuss the state of child care and how to improve access to it. Our guests:
- Pete Nabozny, policy director for The Children's Agenda
- Danielle Jones, mother, member of the Rochester-Monroe Anti-Poverty Initiative Experience Cohort, licensed mental health counselor, and podcaster
