Rochester city officials are working to close a budget gap of $38.7 million, and Mayor Lovely Warren is looking for public input. Warren said she wants to hear from the community before making these crucial decisions.

“When you look at our structural budget gap, we have to make some decisions,” Warren said.

The mayor said she wants to hear from the community.

“Getting their input about what’s most important for them and what projects are very, very important for them to keep,” she said.

Warren said the costs of health care, infrastructure and pensions cause the gap to go up and down. She said that finding a balance is important.

“We want to continue to provide our citizens with the basic needs and services that they receive, but we also want to do innovative projects that will move our community forward,” she said.

Rochester residents can share their opinions through anupcoming “town hall meeting" via telephone and an online survey.
