After spending a week in Rochester, city leaders from Oakland, Chicago, Orlando, and other urban areas presented some of their recommendations for downtown revitalization.

Last fall, Rochester was picked as one of four cities for the Daniel Rose Fellowship. For one year, leaders from the chosen cities collaborate and share their ideas for solving each others challenges. The objective is enhancing public spaces and utilizing natural and historic assets.

Mayor Lovely Warren says she heard a lot of great ideas for how to address some of Rochester's assets.

"We really needed to focus on Main Street and reactivating the Genesee River along Main Street."

The leaders talked about public art projects, entertainment spaces, and walk-able plazas that turn assets into valuable public spaces, which, hopefully, will ultimately draw people to live and spend money downtown.

Warren says it'll take time, investment, and collaboration, but Rochester is moving forward.
