Thousands of people around Monroe County lined up with their cars again on Wednesday at town and village locations around the area to get their free face masks.

The county is providing more than a million masks to help stop the spread of the coronavirus.

In Fairport, Village Mayor Julie Domeratz was helping out and said it’s important that people in the area help each other during this pandemic.

“I think sometimes people see that things are going so well they don’t realize that there are people in our community who have also gotten this awful disease and that anything that we can do to support members of our community so that they don’t get sick is important to both the town and the village,” Domeratz said.

The city of Rochester will be mailing out around 480,000 of the face coverings to residents, and another 20,000 will be reserved for public health efforts.
