
Denise Young
Executive editorDenise Young is executive editor of WXXI News.
She oversees the operations of all news-related initiatives with the leaders of each platform, including radio, digital, print and television. She also leads WXXI’s involvement in a collaboration of public radio and television stations across New York state.
Denise came to WXXI in 2016 after 20-plus years in print journalism, including serving as the content coach for storytelling with the Democrat & Chronicle newspaper in Rochester and managing editor of the Lockport Union-Sun & Journal in Niagara County.
She has a degree in magazine journalism from Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and was a fellow in the Editorial Integrity and Leadership Initiative managed by the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University.
Denise and her partner, Bill Wolcott, live in Chili with their two cats, Butters and Brie, and their dog, Hannah. They enjoy traveling and finding great places to eat in the region, and Bill occasionally convinces Denise to go hiking with him and Hannah.
