Rochester City Hall has released the letter that Mayor Lovely Warren sent to City Council leaders about her impending resignation.
Warren submitted the letter on Monday, after a plea deal was reached to satisfy criminal charges that had been brought against her.
The agreement resolves both campaign finance charges as well as gun and child endangerment charges from an unrelated case. As part of the agreement, Warren has to step down by December 1.
In her letter to City Council President Loretta Scott and Vice President Willie Lightfoot, Warren talks about accomplishments during her tenure as mayor, including the recent announcement about Constellation Brands moving its headquarters downtown and what she calls “a renewed sense of community.”
Warren also said in the letter that she does not believe that “at moments like this we should reflect and focus on the negative.”
Warren said she chose a path that presents her family, especially her daughter as well as the city with the best possible future.
Warren said she will resign effective 11:59 p.m. on December 1, and until that time, she plans to continue to push for equal rights, reparations and “doing the work for our citizens.”
