Orleans County Deputies , the FAA and the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office continue to investigate a fatal skydiving accident that happened Saturday night.
Deputies say that just before 7:30 p.m., they got a call about a man down in a field off Pask Road in the Town of Barre. The 30 year old Rochester man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released yet.
The initial investigation shows the victim was an experienced skydiving instructor having made more than 700 jumps. Witnesses told deputies that the victim and another skydiver, both members of the WNY Sky Diving Club, left the Pine Hill Airport and made the jump around 7pm.
After landing, the second skydiver could not locate the victim and began a search for the man along with the plane used for the jump.
Authorities are still trying to find out just what led to the fatal fall.
