Local real estate figure Norman Leenhouts has died

A well-known figure in local real estate circles has died. Norman Leenhouts, who co-founded the company Home Properties with his twin brother Nelson, died Saturday. He was 81.

The Leenhouts formed Home Leasing Corporation in 1967 and took the company public in 1994 to become Home Properties where Norman Leenhouts served as co-CEO and chairman.

Norman Leenhouse was also a co-founder and senior advisor of another real estate company, Broadstone.

His daughter, Amy Tait, is Chairman and CEO of Broadstone. She said that her father "will best be remembered for his entrepreneurial spirit, humble generosity, kind heart and brilliant mind. It was an honor for me to be able to work with him for over three decades."

A memorial service is scheduled for Sunday, January 15th, 2pm at Hale Auditorium at Roberts Wesleyan College
