Rochester Catholic Ministries Appeal Tops $6 Million

Officials with the Rochester Catholic Diocese say that commitments to the Catholic Ministries Appeal have exceeded $6 million for the first time in the 35-year history of the campaign.

Nearly 28,000 households committed just over $6 million with the average household gift surpassing $200 for the first time.

The amount of money raised ($6.035 million), was slightly under the goal of $6.175 million. But it was higher than the amount of money raised last year, which was $5.66 million.

“We are blessed in the Diocese of Rochester with many families that care deeply for the Church’s mission and charitable works,” said Bishop  Salvatore Matano. “ I am most grateful that they have chosen to help sustain our ministries and programs.”

The contributions enable the diocese to support parishes including training, youth ministry opportunities, Cathol schools and the appeal also benefits Catholic Charities which provides outreach services to the poor.
