Rochester Police and the Monroe County District Attorney's Office have announced that a third person has now been charged with murder in connection with the August 19th shooting on Genesee Street that killed three people and injured four others.
18 year old Michael Mathis of the city faces three counts of 1st degree murder, six counts of 2nd degree murder, four counts of 1st degree assault, as well as assault in the 2nd degree and charges of criminal possession of a weapon.
Authorities previously charged two other men on similar counts, 21 year old Johnny Blackshell of Chili and 20 year old Jalen Everett of Rochester.
Officials now feel that they have charged everyone in the car used in the drive-by shooting who was directly involved in the murders of the three victims.
Mayor Lovely Warren said “For the families and friends of the victims, I hope this news brings you one step closer to the closure you are seeking. As you cope with your loss during the holiday season, I pray you find some semblance of solace in knowing none of the suspects is walking free or in a position to harm someone else on our streets. I ask all of Rochester to join me as we keep you in our thoughts and prayers.”
