School board elections and budget votes are coming up Tuesday.
Voting takes place May 20th in all districts except Albany and the big five, including Rochester, Buffalo, Syracuse , New York City, and Yonkers.
Prominent issues among school board candidates this year are Common Core standards, teacher evaluations and charter schools
Gannett reports that just three percent of school districts in the state plan to seek an override of the property tax cap at the polls on Tuesday. Districts that want to exceed the cap can seek a 60 percent supermajority of voters.
The tax cap this year is 1.46 percent. It is lower because of the lower inflation rate and the first time it has been less than two percent.
