The East End Festival returns this year, although it's just a one-day event instead of three.
Organizer John Hutchins says they were unable to secure a permit for a second day -- he says an amendment to a city ordinance prevents an event from charging admission to access a city street more than once a year.
Previous East End Festivals ran for three days.
Hutchins says they've worked hard on the other requirements that were put in place.
One of those was to create open access to all sidewalks so business owners and residents could get to their businesses and homes.
He adds they've taken steps to make sure it's a safe event, with 40 private security officer and 18 city police officers keeping an eye on the event.
The East End Festival will feature four stages of music by local bands on June 14th on the city's east side.
