A California based online publishing company is expanding into Rochester and bringing 40 jobs to the region.

Atypon  has opened an office in High Falls, on Brown’s Race. The Silicon Valley-based company says it chose to invest in Rochester because of its proximity to world-class higher education and excellent quality of life.

The company says it found an impressive pool of computer science and software engineering talent here.

Atypon’s online publishing platform is most widely used in academic and professional publishing.

Atypon was recently acquired by a global publishing company called Wiley for $120 million.

Before retiring in March 2025, Randy Gorbman was WXXI's director of news and public affairs and managed the day-to-day operations of WXXI News on radio, television, and online.
