PBS Kids recently debuted the first nationally distributed children's series to feature a Native American lead character.

"Molly of Denali" can be seen weekdays at 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on WXXI-TV and every day at 7:30 p.m. on WXXI-Kids (cable 1277/OTA 21.4).

The Rochester native and graduate of Brighton High School says Wegmans inspired the trading post that is a central location in the series that features 10-year old Molly Mabray and her friends solving problems and navigating life in rural Alaska.
