The 15th annual Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival is in the books, ending with huge crowds in the downtown area and East End on Saturday night.
A perennial favorite, Trombone Shorty, drew thousands of people to the outdoor stage near East Avenue and Alexander Street, and the Wood Brothers also drew a big crowd.
Organizers figure the nine-day festival drew at least 200,000 people, although co-producer Marc Iacona told Time Warner Cable News, that…” what makes us successful every year is we don’t want to be bigger, we just want to be the best in what we do and bring to the community what they expect.
The festival featured more than 1,500 artists playing in over 300 concerts.
It’s also anticipated the festival brings in several million dollars in terms of economic development for the community.
