First hour: Special rebroadcast- Danielle Bainbridge, host of "The Origin of Everything"
Second hour: How poetry can give marginalized groups a voice
Danielle Bainbridge never thought she would be a YouTube star -- in fact, she never thought she'd even like YouTube. But now, the Yale doctoral student is the host of "The Origin of Everything," a popular series from PBS Digital Studios. The show traces the roots of different traditions, methods of communication, historical myths, and more. Bainbridge joins us to discuss her show, education in American schools, the importance of diversity in media, and more.
Then in our second hour, it’s National Poetry Month, and we’ll be joined by local, award-winning local poets who will discuss their art, how poetry can give marginalized groups a voice, and about how we teach poetry in schools. In studio:
- Peter Connors, publisher for BOA Editions
- Chen Chen, poet
- Christine Kitano, poet and assistant professor in the Department of Writing at Ithaca College
