Officials cut the ribbon Monday on the new Schottland Family Branch YMCA in Pittsford.
Several years in the making, the 140,000-square-foot facility is the result of a combination of private and public dollars.
President and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Rochester, George Romell said that along with a vast array of programs and services, the new Y also offers two UR Medicine practices inside the branch.

“I believe that in the future there shouldn't be a Y that isn't connected to some kind of health organization that can help bring community health to a higher level," he said.
Dorellis Osborne of Rochester said the health care component is a huge benefit.
“The health care, that is big, big,” Osborne said. “We need that, wellness. Again, it was a well-planned facility.”
More than $18 million was raised through donors, including a $3.5 million capital donation from Peter and Susan Schottland of Pittsford.
State Senator Rich Funke helped secure over $1 million in state capital funding for the project.
“It’s a community center with a wide radius, where all ages can come to participate in programs and services that ultimately are going to make our community better, and healthier, thanks to the U of R and Strong," he said.
Funke said the branch could serve as a model for other YMCA facilities in the nation.
