Tops Markets officially opened its new store in Frontier Commons Plaza.
That's not far from the old Jefferson Road store, and while at 55-thousand square feet it's smaller than the old one, company President and CEO Frank Curci says it's better.
He says the 80-thousand square foot Jefferson Road store was built in 1988, and didn't have the proper layout for the way Tops does business today.
Curci says building a brand new store gave them the chance to design a store that expands departments that are more important to customers today than 25 years ago.
Curci says an added convenience for customers is a gas station, which will open at the end of the month.
Curci says Tops is about midway through its capital program for Monroe County and the greater Rochester area.
A Brighton Tops reopened a few weeks ago, and a new Irondequoit store is slated to open in late March or early April.
