Substitute Teacher & Assistant Coach Accused Of Raping Student

Rochester Police have charged a man who was an assistant coach and a substitute teacher in the city school district with rape.

Police say that 28 year old Michael Schimek faces charges of 3rd degree rape and 3rd degree criminal sex act.

They say that the crime allegedly happened at Schimek's residence on Rowley Street, and officers say it involved a 15 year old victim on multiple occasions over the last several months.

Authorities say Schimek met the victim through his previous position with the school district as the assistant track coach at the School of the Arts. They say at the time of his arrest, Schimek was employed as a substitute teacher at Edison Tech.

At this point police say there is no information about any other potential victims, but anyone with information is asked to call 911 or the Goodman Section Office at 428-9800.

The school district sent a letter home to parents  of students at School of the Arts which says it has no evidence that inappropriate activity occurred on school property, and that upon learning of the investigation, the district took steps to make sure Schimek would not be allow to have contacts with students in any city school.
