Tops Friendly Markets is introducing a program it calls "Tops' Price Lock Guarantee," which the supermarket chain says will set lower prices on hundreds of regularly purchased items, from September 7 running through November 1.
Tops officials say the prices will affect more than 300 items in 26 categories and the company says it's one of the first initiatives by the chain since it returned to local ownership less than a year ago. After the eight-week program, Tops will assess consumer feedback to determine future products that will be part of the price guarantee program.
Wegmans has a guaranteed pricing for a few years that was discontinued last year after the company said it would focus on offering consistent low prices on items that it sees families using most often.
