A well known Seneca County employer is expanding, and that will mean more jobs at Goulds Pumps.
Goulds Pumps already employs nearly 900 people in Seneca Falls, and with the latest expansion they expect to add another 50 more. The company has been expanding into providing pumps and other equipment the oil and gas industry, and that has resulted in the need for the new building and equipment.
John Manna is a Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for ITT, which is the parent company for Goulds Pumps. He says the new operation will be involved in both manufacturing and research and development.
"This particular facility which was about $22 million, is kind of the culmination because now, it not only allows us to build product, but now we can package and test a very highly engineered , complex product.”
Manna says ITT could have expanded elsewhere, but he says the availability of a well trained workforce in this area helped tip the scales in favor of staying there with this expansion. New York State is providing incentives valued at more than $5 million.
