Thanksgiving week is traditionally one of the busiest times of the year for area supermarkets, but shopping is a bit more frenzied than usual this week with the impending storm, expected to dump several inches of snow on our area from Tuesday night through early Thursday.
At Wegmans, spokersperson Jo Natale says the supermarket chain already had beefed up staffing and certain products on the shelves because of the holiday, and that actually will help them weather the rush to the stores caused by the storm.
"What works in our favor this particular week is that we have so many deliveries going to our stores already, that it isn't a question of adding more, it's just a question of bulking up those deliveries with the right products ."
Natale says besides shoppers buying a lot of turkeys and the other traditional Thanksgiving foods, Wegmans stores are seeing increased sales of the staples, products such as bread, milk, eggs, and storm related goods like batteries and shovels.
