First hour: The story of a neuroscientist who discovered he was a psychopath
Second hour: Accomplished foreign correspondent and author Martin Fletcher
A neuroscientist was looking at his own brain scan and realized... he is a psychopath. James Fallon was stunned at the discovery, but those around him were less surprised. He wanted to know: why was he a nonviolent psychopath? Can typical psychopathic behavior -- a lack of empathy, self-centeredness -- be changed with effort? Fallon's story is fascinating, and especially now, with such a focus on mental illness and gun-based violence. We'll welcome James Fallon for the hour; his book is called The Psychopath Inside.
In our second hour: We talk to one of the most accomplished war correspondents ever: Martin Fletcher headed up NBC News' Tel Aviv bureau for 26 years and covered some of the most dangerous conflicts in numerous countries. Now he's a fiction writer, and he's coming to Rochester on Sunday night as a featured guest in the Jewish Book Festival. Fletcher's newest book is called The War Reporter, and it's a gripping look at the life of a journalist in dangerous times.
