Wegmans has topped a new survey of the companies across the country who have the best corporate reputations.
The Rochester-based supermarket chain, with just one-tenth of Amazon's revenues, edged past the online retailer to reach the top spot in a new Harris Poll. Samsung was 3rd, Costco and Johnson& Johnson were 4th and 5th.
“Reputation is far from static and is a business asset that is earned every day as people evaluate companies through the lens of what matters most to them. Wegmans has spent years building a sterling reputation in the communities they serve, through its employees, one shopping experience at a time,” says Carol M. Gstalder, Reputation & Public Relations Practice Leader for Harris Poll.
"To be recognized in this way is just incredible," says Danny Wegman, CEO. "It always starts with our people, who thrill our customers every day and extend a family feeling in our stores across six states.
“Results like these make us very proud, but also affirm that our employees are living our values of caring, respect, empowerment, high standards, and making a difference,” added Wegman.
Harris Poll expanded the list to 100 companies this year, up from 60.
