Small Earthquake Detected Near Attica

There was a small earthquake near Attica early Friday morning. The U.S. Geological Survey reports the 1.7 magnitude quake happened at 5:45 a.m.

Experts say that earthquakes under 3 on the Richter scale are not often felt by people.

The USGS says the largest quake in that region, with a magnitude of 4.9, caused moderate damage near Attica  back in 1929.
